Conducted a social inclusion analysis in the context of humanitarian assistance for Venezuelan migrants, Colombian returnees, and receptor communities. Additionally, designed two GBV training modules for the Reducing Barriers to Women’s Economic Empowerment Initiative (RBI) that will serve as an integral part of the educational curriculum for women micro- and small- entrepreneurs in Honduras and El Salvador.

Led a team of 4 consultants to conduct a national gender and social inclusion analysis in Sri Lanka. Findings on gender based violence and women's economic empowerment informed USAID's next Country Development Cooperation Strategy. Identified opportunities for USAID to cooperate with the government, civil society, and the private sector to advance gender equity.

Copy-edited 44-session empowerment curriculum for girls ages 10-13, with an accompanying boys curriculum, and guide for parents. Harmonized content across three guides and provided editorial suggestions about gender norms and sexual and reproductive health. Helped to adapt the content from Ethiopia into a global guide while flagging aspects that should be tailored in future implementation in different contexts.

Conduct a gender audit to enhance the collective capacity of the DRC-DDG in Afghanistan to examine its activities from a gender perspective to identify strengths and weaknesses in promoting gender equality issues. The aims of the gender audit are to improve programmatic planning, set a mechanism to monitor and assess gender mainstreaming processes, while also building organizational capacities in understanding gender issues to increase organizational ownership for gender equality initiatives.

Lead participatory and strategic planning for CECAP, the national chapter of GNB in Mozambique. Develop case studies to illustrate activities that have successfully challenged child marriage and could be relevant in other settings.

Conducted a national gender and social inclusion assessment in Colombia with a focus on the humanitarian response to the refugee situation in the border region with Venezuela and gender based violence. Qualitative data collection included key stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and field visits to meet with program beneficiaries from vulnerable populations such as LGBTI, indigenous groups, and Afro-Colombians.

Conducted a gender assessment in health care facilities to identify gender based gaps and constraints related to Zika, well baby care, and disabilities. Worked with the Ministries of Health to improve health care delivery, data collection, and analysis as part of the USAID Applying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) program.

Advance the GNB engagement plan for Latin America and the Caribbean by developing a regional expert assessment for the regional strategy to address child marriage and early unions in Latin America and the Caribbean. This includes a literature review to write a technical document summarizing current evidence from the region, conducting a regional youth dialogue on early unions, organizing a convening of regional experts, and forming a regional advisory committee.

Conducted a national gender assessment with Iris Group to assess: recent advances and gaps in gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE) in four focus sectors in Mozambique, how these advances and gaps are addressed in current programming in Mozambique (funded by USAID and other donors), and the opportunities for USAID/Mozambique, in collaboration with the GOM, CSOs, NGOs, the private sector, and other donors, to advance GEWE within its strategic planning and program implementation plans.

Reviewed open-source materials on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and youth friendly health services (YFHS) to determine the extent that they address gender norms. Synthesized this research in a concise brief, created an infographic, and added resources to the Advance Learning and Innovation on Gender Norms (ALIGN) knowledge hub.

CenRID - NGO Launch in Uganda

Works closely with CenRID, a grassroots NGO recently launched in Uganda, to provide vision and leadership to ensure optimal program design and strategic partner engagement to achieve high quality results for adolescent development and gender programming. Together we have assembled an active board of directors, developed proposals to secure funding, and conducted a readiness assessment to learn more about the needs of the community we will serve and begin to build relationships and networks.

Tech2Empower brought women together from across the US for a week of training in San Francisco to use technology more effectively. We spent time at leading tech companies such as Twitter, YouTube, and Google to learn from experts about digital storytelling, audience engagement, and data analytics to optimize websites.

On March 28, 2017, the ACLU of MS participated in a legislative hearing on gender equality and transgender rights. Policymakers heard from members of the transgender and gender non-conforming (GNC) community as well as allies from the faith, business, health, legal, and education communities. Alana Kolundzija provided testimony about how non-discrimination policies that specifically include LGBT people have a significant effect on reducing stigma and improving trans health outcomes.
